SHOE GRIPS

Definition: Shoe grips are
made of a rough material that creates traction on smooth soled shoes. They
are used to prevent slipping and to extend the life of the sole of the
shoe.
The grip fits on the front portion of the sole and is usually self-sticking. It
is recommended, however, that one use rubber cement (following those
directions) to secure the grip to the bottom of the shoe.
They are useful in helping to reduce slipping on carpeted surfaces,
as long as the grip itself is secure and not peeling away (which will
itself cause slipping). They do not provide enough traction in wet or
oily environments.
Benefits: Smooth soled shoes
can be very slippery, especially on carpet. Shoe grips are a simple
way and inexpensive way to create better traction in those instances. However,
they do not provide enough traction to in wet or oily environments to
reliably prevent slipping.
